I was shocked and very saddened to learn of the passing of Dale Kidd over the weekend due to complications from the H1N1 virus. Dale was one of the most generous people and honest songwriters I’ve ever had the privilege of knowing.
From the first moment I met him Dale was never anything but supportive and overwhelmingly positive about any project I have ever been involved in. While the rise and subsequent success of the Madison Songwriters Group has often been attributed to me in the press, I can assure you it was Dale quietly informing the legion of Wisconsin songwriters that I did in fact have some good ideas that started the ball rolling.
He always had a habit of showing up or calling the moment I was thinking of him and his laugh filled everyone who met him with mirth, I would give almost anything to hear it one more time. I shared both the best and worst on stage moments of my life with Dale beside me and he will be missed more then I can say.
